LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the current landscape of biological diagnosis in Parkinson’s disease, including fluid biomarkers, magnetic resonance imaging,
    and molecular imaging
  • Recognise clinical biomarkers that differentiate Parkinson’s disease from atypical parkinsonisms
  • Discuss the relative importance of non-motor versus motor criteria in defining advanced Parkinson’s disease
  • Evaluate the optimal timing for introducing device-aided therapies and critically compare subcutaneous infusion approaches, deep brain stimulation, and magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound
  • Apply precision medicine principles — including adaptive deep brain stimulation, subtype-based treatment, and personalised non-pharmacological care — to individual patient management
  • Navigate challenging diagnostic and therapeutic questions in Parkinson’s disease-related dementia and neuropsychiatric symptoms
  • Consolidate knowledge through case-based workshops in differential diagnosis, stage-appropriate treatment planning, and hands-on introduction to device-aided therapies

INTENDED AUDIENCE
